What types of claims can I put on Find Others?

There are many different types of claims you could put on the Find Others system, ranging from consumer issues to animal rights. No matter what your claim type, you can put it on Find Others under the categories listed below.

You will need to select a category for your claim type

If other claimants have the same issue as you, you can join a Case Group with them to take action together. Selecting a category will help us show you Case Groups in the same category as your claim to aid this process. To find out more about Case Groups, you can read our article here.

You will need to engage a lawyer that specialises in your claim type. Selecting a category will help you find an appropriate lawyer.

Once you have selected a category, you will need to define your claim type more specifically. For example, if you select ‘Employment’, you could then clarify that the issue falls under ‘unpaid wages’.

The categories for claim types are:

  • Commercial and Contract covers disputes that may arise from business dealings, consumer agreements and media law.

  • Data and Privacy refers to cases regarding the collection and use of your data.

  • Environmental refers to cases that impact the environment, such as industrial pollution and climate change issues.

  • Employment refers to issues that have arisen in the workplace, including unfair dismissal, discrimination, unfair deductions and unsafe working conditions.

  • Equality and Rights refers to cases that infringe on your human rights and your right to equality. Animal rights are also included in this category.

  • Finance refers to cases that involve financial products or services, tax, and insurance.

  • Medical Negligence refers to physical or mental harm which has occurred as a result of the health care provided by medical professionals.

  • Personal Injury refers to physical or psychological injury or illness that was caused by someone else.

  • Product and Service refers to disputes with manufacturers or retailers in regards to a product or service that you have bought from them. These can include faulty goods, miss-selling, and incorrect labelling.

  • Property, Trusts and Probate refers to cases that relate to a property you own or rent, trust funds, and any dealings that involve the estate of someone who has passed away.

  • Shipping and Maritime refers to cases that involve logistics and the distribution of goods.

What if my claim falls under more than one category?

It may be the case that you can place your claim in more than one category. In this circumstance, you could consider:

  • The type of expertise you are looking for in a law firm. Try to choose the category that would help you find an appropriate law firm specialising in your claim.

  • Your desired outcome. If you are seeking a specific outcome from your claim, you should select a category that will best help you achieve this.

  • The terms used in any correspondence you may have had with the other party. Try to match the terms used in any dealings you have had with the other party (e.g. letters, emails, and phone calls) to any terms used in the categories. This may help you understand your issue better.
